About

Natalie V. Grant is a Brooklyn-based multidisciplinary artist working across fiber, photography, and mixed media. Her practice explores Black identity, cultural memory, representation, pride, and the ways history and personal experience are carried through visual and material culture.

Working with hand-tufted fiber, photography, fabric, beads, and found materials, Grant creates vibrant portraits and sculptural works that explore Black hair as a form of expression, storytelling, and cultural memory. Her current body of work, Crowned, centers Black women and girls, celebrating Black hair while exploring ideas of being loved, valued, blessed, and seen.

Grant is also a teaching artist and community arts facilitator. Through Maison Jacquard, she has served as a lead teaching artist for NeON Arts youth programming, leading tufting instruction across two cohorts and supporting participants through collaborative textile projects and final showcases. She received her BFA in Photography and Video from the School of Visual Arts in 2020.
